The purpose of this work is focused on solving how efficient the water management has been in Los Perales oil field, to be able to show improvement points that allow prioritizing the resource, capitalizing on the remaining oil with the current infrastructure and sitting down the bases for a future growth from an optimal condition of operation of the field. The need arises because of the lack of water sources in secondary recovery projects implemented in the recent years. Throughout the history of the field, the focus has always been on oil production, then gas and produced and injected water in third place. Even today it is difficult to concentrate on injectors first and then oil and gas producers, although 70% of crude oil production is by secondary recovery and each injector, at least, supports around four to five producers. The absence of attention on the circulating water in the system is a major problem in the management of the field, and so, this present project attempt to highlight the importance of knowing which reservoirs represents the 80% of the oil field production in order to make a good use of the resource. The objective is to be able to reach an acceptable injection rate to sweep the remaining oil trying to minimize the lifting cost. There are excellent examples in oil fields near by the analysis area, that proves how important is to have the injection as a priority and a strong work on surveillance waterflooding projects for maintaining the base curve. There is also enough injection pressure to reach the target of injection rate per layer and get the maximum potential of the field. This work will allow to indicate the north in the optimization of the field with the current infrastructure as well as to define an optimized base curve based on the requirements of the reservoir, allowing to show some preliminary results of the redistribution.
