To better understand the distribution of gas within the Austral Basin, Compañía General de Combustibles (CGC), collected production gas samples from 26 wells, ranging from El Puma to the Northwest, Campo Indio – Ea. Agua Fresca to the East, and An Aike – Barda Las Vegas to the South, within the Springhill and Magallanes reservoirs levels. The gas samples were analyzed compositionally (% HC and non-HC) and isotopically (d13C from C1 to C5 and d2H for C1). Such analysis revealed significant variability in origin and thermal maturity. A key difference is between An Aike and Ea. Agua Fresca, where the former shows a mixed thermogenic origin (possible contribution of humic origin), while the latter is interpreted as a mixture with biogenic gas. The rest of the gases are also thermogenic with variations indicating differences in thermal maturity and subtle biogenic admixtures. The source rock appears to be a common type II kerogen with different transitions to humic origins, depending on the area. Core samples of Palermo Aike Inferior were measured for d13C in isolated kerogen and used as reference. The thermal stage for all of the samples ranges from late mature to postmature (VRE ~1.0-1.6%), where in El Puma is the most mature, while the least mature samples are found between Campo Boleadoras and Campo Indio. These groups of gases, and their resulting genetic identity, were compared to the geochemical basin model and interpreted locally as potential pods with horizontal or vertical migration processes. This work aims to provide both gassource rock correlations and their migration pattern from the kitchen to the accumulations along the Austral basin
