Combination of managed pressure drilling and casing while drilling techniques Comparison, advantages and operational challenges

However, the combination of MPD with casing while drilling (CwD) techniques has raised as a new alternative to continue optimizing drilling projects. This integration has brought new challenges within MPD engineering and the need to adapt procedures to this new methodology to obtain excellent results. The objective of this article is to analyze changes in MPD, comparing cases of wells drilled with conventional BHA and wells drilled with casing. Software simulation analysis will be utilized to compare advantages and looking for opportunities in order to improve efficiency
