520 _aIgneous rocks, both of intrusive and extrusive origin, comprise and represent an important group within the hydrocarbon reservoirs identified in various productive basins in Argentina. These rocks appear with different distributions and settings, generating effects in the petroleum system of variable magnitude. To predict the distribution of the hydrocarbon reservoir, it is necessary to know the type of igneous rock, characterize it and adjust it to a geological model. A compilation and detailed analysis of different borehole image logs acquired by different service companies in exploration campaigns and development wells was carried out. Different types of igneous rocks have been analyzed, such as intrusive bodies, lava flows, ignimbrites, ash-flows, auto-breccias, fall deposits, among others. The approach of the borehole image logs allows not only to interpret the fractures that these rocks have, but also the textures and architecture of the deposits, which are key to the definition of their igneous origin. For the construction of a solid geological model, it is necessary to calibrate the information from the image logs together with the description of the cores and, to a lesser extent, the description of cuttings. This work shows a selection of the main igneous rock textures identified from well images and their geological interpretation, which were used for the construction of the geological model in different projects.
