520 _aThe Malvinas Basin is located at the southern tip of South America, broadening between Malvinas platform to the east and the Rio Chico structural high (also called the Dungeness Arch) to the west. Its configuration is triangular and has a column of more than 9000 m of sedimentary fill that ranges from Jurassic to Cenozoic. The main reservoir of this offshore basin, composed mainly of siliciclastic sediments, is part of a transgressive sequence of early Cretaceous age. This interval has been the focus of study by several authors for decades. 22 wells have been drilled in the basin and proved the existence of an active petroleum system. The exploration historically focused on traps associated to structural highs located at the north and west margins of the basin, while the zone towards the southeast and centre of the basin, which corresponds to the basin depocenter, remains practically unexplored. The objective of this study was to reconstruct the depositional environments of the Lower Cretaceous interval, and thus give more insight into the hydrocarbon prospectivity of this part of the basin. For the 2018 Argentina Offshore Bidding Round, the Ministry of Energy collected and provided a large amount of data, including 2D seismic acquired between 1970 and 1998. Using the highest quality seismic data from this set, a workflow combining various seismic attributes and innovative neural network technology was generated. This workflow allowed us to establish a relationship between lithologies and changes in the seismic signal or clustering of the response of the seismic data. As a result of this study, seismic facies maps were obtained which allowed for the identification of seismic geoshapes, which were calibrated with well data, facilitating the understanding of the depositional environments of the Lower Cretaceous sequence.
