520 _aSeismic stratigraphic and sedimentological characterization of the Agrio-Centenario chronostratigraphic interval across the central sector of the Neuquén Basin. This contribution promoted by IAPG presents an integration and analysis of different datasets (wells, seismic data, cuttings, cores, outcrops) across the central Neuquén Basin aiming at updating and refining the chronostratigraphic and paleoenvironmental relationships of the Agrio-Centenario interval. The study area covers 280 km from western outcrops near Zapala to Villa Regina in the east. Firstly, this regional analysis allowed discriminating three main continental successions within the original Centenario Formation defined in the basin eastern sector. Those three intervals are here ascribed chronostratigraphically to Loma Montosa Formation (uppermost Lower Mendoza Group), Centenario Formation (upper Mendoza Group) and Rayoso Formation, respectively. Secondly, within the redefined Centenario Formation in the eastern sector, two different members were separated, which directly correlate with the Lower and Upper Agrio Members recognized in the western sector. In this way, the sandy and amalgamated deposits of the Lower Centenario Member (mostly up to coarsegrained sandstones) are inferred to represent the fluvial systems developed up-dip of the western sandy deltaic deposits. In turn, the relatively coarser sediments of the Upper Centenario Member (up to pebbly sandstones) interbedded with abundant fine-grained deposits are also attributed to fluvial systems but with a significant change in available material, nature of transfer system and/or location of source areas. The results of this contribution can be used to improve production strategies in tight deltaic reservoirs, to build more robust exploration models in frontiers areas, and to better characterize mature hydrocarbon reservoirs that are presently considered as storage for natural gas.
