520 _aThe aim of this work is to carry out a fault seal analysis for an exploratory frontier prospect located in the external area of the Colorado Marine Basin, offshore Argentina. The area is covered by 3D seismic, to date without any wildcats for calibration. The prospect involves shallow marine sandstone reservoirs in a combined structural/stratigraphic closure. In this context, the sealing capacity of the fault would control this plane acting as a hydrocarbon leaking or sealing plane. Juxtaposition maps showed that reservoirs do not overlap in the fault closure, preventing leakage of hydrocarbons across the plane. Secondly, the last reactivation of the fault would have occurred during the Eocene and could have contributed to the remigration of trapped fluids. However, from the Eocene to the present, the risk of remigration is low since no other recent reactivation pulses have been observed. Thirdly, fluid leakage would have been diminished by the high clay content in the fault planes (SGR), which would give them low permeability. Finally, by varying the parameters in the maximum and minimum scenarios, it was observed that the fault would represent a sealing plane at both ends, so this study allows us to estimate that the main fault could act as an effective trap closure element.
