520 _aThe presence of basalts on the surface, sometimes partially covered by a thin layer of variable thickness of modern clastic sediments, is a problem in the areas where exploration and development operations are carried out, particularly when building locations and initial stage of well drilling are carrying out. In the same way, they can complicate the construction of roads, surface facilities, as well as seismic acquisition operations. The detection of basaltic levels using satellite images is sometimes not enough due to its low resolution. This paper describes a new tool based on multispectral images and photogrammetric techniques obtained with aerial vehicles (UAVs or drones) that allow detecting with high resolution the presence and distribution of the basaltic bodies present on the surface. By applying different algorithms in the multispectral image and the determination of scales of specific colors, it is possible to quickly and accurately differentiate the presence of basaltic rocks, sandy substratum, vegetation, transited and abandoned roads, perennial and ephemeral lakes and reworked soils with lower costs than conventional methods.
