520 _aIn the Cañadón Seco – Meseta Espinosa block lies the eastern most depocenter with Neocomian generating facies known in the southern flank of the Golfo San Jorge basin. There are only three wells that drilled this formation in positions close to the limits of the hemigraben, those were made between the years 80’, 90’ and the beginning of the year 2000. In none of these cases the reservoir levels were tested in cased well due to its low saturation of hydrocarbons. However, key factors such as the extension of the depocenter, the thickness of the sandy levels, its petrophysical quality, the hydrocarbon shows and the good exploratory results obtained in other Neocomian depocenters in the west of the basin, motivate the study and update of this play for exploratory purposes. When analyzing the values of the total organic carbon (TOC%) obtained from the cutting of the shale levels of the Neocomian sequence, two well differentiated sections could be recognized. The upper section corresponds to the Pozo Cerro Guadal Fm. and presents values of TOC% that does not exceed 1%, while the underlying section belongs to the Anticlinal Pozo Aguada Bandera Fm. This last section was drilled by two wells and have found a thickness between 30 and 40 meters, and TOC values that oscillate between 1 and 3%, giving these levels certain hydrocarbon generating potential. The values of Ro% indicate that the rock is in the oil generation window.A well located near the boundary of the depocenter found a granitic basement that has a 13 meters thick regolith with fractures filled with hydrocarbons. Light oil (38 ° API) was tested at these levels, and the analysis of filiation from biomarkers shows a close similarity with the Neocomian oils produced at the west of the basin, in the Río Mayo area. The results obtained from 3D seismic mapping, geochemical sampling, petrophysical analysis, and the presence of Neocomian oil in the basement motivates us to continue exploring this depocenter.
