520 _aThe Bella Vista field is on the so-called "Flanco Norte" (North Flank) of The Golfo San Jorge Basin, in the province of Chubut, near the city of Comodoro Rivadavia, in a reserve area called "Zona Central-Bella Vista Este." It is one of the oldest oil assets in Argentina, currently operated by YPF S.A. in partnership with ENAP SIPETROL (50%). The first oil well (CH-2), drilled in 1907, was the one which paved the way for the significant development of the area. The field produces oil that comes from rock formations found in El Trébol, Comodoro Rivadavia and Mina El Carmen. In 2014, the most productive well of Argentina (BVS-553) was discovered in this area with a production of 174 m3/d.Although oil well production in Bella Vista Sur makes this location the most important area of the asset, there is a limitation when continuing the development as the main reservoirs are found beneath the public land. The physical space available is very limited and it is virtually exhausted in the locations and as a consequence, the oil well drilling activity becomes a complex task. These limitations lead to the need of optimizing the field development plan to ensure the best possible recovery result (with the lowest degree of uncertainty) and, at the same time, being environmentally-friendly according to the quality standards required by both companies. This paper describes the simulation modeling creation used for the evaluation of different development strategies for Bella Vista Sur and the analysis methodology so as to verify the validity and consistency of that model. It is also described the implementation of workflow automation and algorithms for the examination of uncertainty and optimization aspects which proved to be extremely useful during the study. Finally, the strategies evaluated and the findings obtained in the study are presented.
