520 _aIn this study we analyzed the paleo geographical variabilities of the organic rich intervals of different stratigraphic units in the Neuquén Embayment. We developed five paleogeographic maps for units U1 to U5, based on regional mapping of clinoform breaks and toesets at key stratigraphic surfaces and mineralogical well log data, calibrated with core and sidewall core samples. Regardlessof climatic changes previously mentioned in the literature of the area, the results showed that in the successive units, it is remarkable how towards the north the composition is mainly carbonatic in a context of divergent stacking pattern and to the south the composition is mixed type in clinoforms. The interpretation of mineralogical distribution, plus thickness maps and clinoform distribution, lead to identifyand separate two main depositional basin centers (BC). The Eastern Basin center (EBC) characterized by rich organic intervals, in a dominantly calcareous rock and a Western Basin Center (WBC) characterized mainly bymix to siliciclastic rock composition.
