520 _aIn the subject well, a previously installed straddle packer used to isolate corroded casing had to be removed and replaced to achieve a larger pass-through ID needed for the ideal artificial-lift system. After evaluating conventional isolation methods, it was determined that a solid expandable cased hole liner was the only solution that effectively isolated the corroded casing and optimized ID. After installing the solid expandable liner, the pay zone was perforated and an electrical submersible pump was run through the expandable liner in order to maximize production flow rate. The success of the expandable liner in isolating problem zones without sacrificing critical wellbore ID is breathing new life into this particular field as more wells are evaluated for similar applications.
