| 520 | _aTranscripción del abstract original del autor: In terms of reserves and development of the gas natural industry, Argentina is the leading country in the South American cone. However, despite the technical capabilities and profound knowledge, decades of mismanagement by government administration, with a severe lack of genuine investment, coupled with inefficiency and corruption, have led the industry to the brink of collapse until the end of the 80’s. Between 1990 and 1992, a privatisation of the public services was launched to curb this situation, resulting in an important inflow of foreign investment and know-how that updated the system to international standards. However, the financial and political crisis which climaxed in December 2001 and the desperate measures taken by the provisional government jeopardized the sound legislative and regulatory bases on which the system was supported. This paper intends to shed a light on the need of a sound regulation bases, backed by legal certainty, as the backbone for sustainable development of any natural gas industry. | ||
