These landfill and backfill have been heavy loads on the environment. As a responsible public utility company, Toho Gas Co., Ltd. have directed our attention to environmental problems early on, taking the promotion of reducing, reusing and recycling wastes and resources to reduce the environmental loads due to our business activities as an important assignment. With the above as a background, we have researched and developed technologies and techniques for reducing or recycling all wastes produced as a result of gas piping work, and established a total recycling system for using recycled products made by processing construction wastes from gas piping work sites for "road backfill" and "road surface recovery." In this paper, the author reports our research and development activities for recycling wastes produced by gas piping work with actual cases of our waste recycling.
