These contracts rule purchases, sales and transportation relations and do not follow a standard. These contracts are very different among each other and a generic approach is useless. On the other hand, an individual analysis is possible. However, when combing the contracts and simulating scenarios, the process turns out to be very complex and, some times, unintelligible. The Scheduling Optimization purpose is to change the short-term focus, in which offer and demand are matched, to an approach that considers long-term aspects such as make-up clauses, demand prediction and tariffs evolution. The result obtained is an indication of new profit possibilities and potential income boosting as well as foreseeing and quantifying losses. It not only points out tendencies to bear strategic decisions and prioritize investments but also is an input to another optimization round, making this a recurrent process.
