In order to reduce NOx emissions on the site of Chalampé (France), Rhodia PI Chalampé SAS decides to carry out gas reburning on the boiler C5 which produces steam at 60 Bar. After the feasibility study partly carried out by The Research and Development Division of Gaz de France, Cofathec-Projis and Rhodia PI Chalampé SAS signed the contract of realization. GE-EER as a specialist of reburning process on industrial boiler participates to this project. The installation of the reburning gas process on C5 boiler was successfully realised (2001) and the experimental tests (April 2002) showed the efficiency of this process regarding NOx emissions reduction. A reduction of 70 % was obtained, with gas consumption less than 25 % of the total heat input. We also noted a good behaviour of the boiler and the gas consumption is totally compensated by the reduction of the primary consumption (liquid combustible). Rodia PI Chalampé SAS reached his goal concerning the NOx reduction and the successful of the first application on industrial boiler prompts Cofathec Projis and Gaz de France to develop this process on other installations.
