Besides, high-quality treatment is often performed to prevent the oxidation of the product. When using a gas burner, indirect heating is required using a radiant tube burner to prevent the entrance of combustion gas into the furnace. As a heat source for this purpose, an electric heater has been used in consideration of temperature controllability and the uniformity of temperature distribution. However, the use of gas-burning radiant tube burners has attracted widespread attention in the area of heat treatment in recent years, due to the perspectives of the improved performance of radiant tube burners and the resultant improvement in heating technique, the trend toward global environment protection including energy-saving and the reduction of CO2 emissions, and the cost reduction of the treatment. We have developed and marketed many burners including single-ended radiant tube burners and regenerative tube burners for use in gas-burning furnaces designed for heat treatment under controlled atmosphere. In addition, high-temperature and vacuum treatments including vacuum carburizing have drawn attention in recent years. Due to these events, we are now developing a new treatment technology as well as a new radiant tube burner system to achieve increased energy savings. This document discusses the development of new radiant tube burner systems in the field of metal heat treatment.
