This unit produces both hot water and electricity in an extremely efficient process. By fueling the system with clean burning natural gas, carbon-dioxide emissions can be significantly reduced and the unit can be interconnected to the electricity Power Grid. The Honda MCHP1.0 has achieved 85% (Low Heat Value "LHV") total energy efficiency, a compact 380mm width, and operating noise level of 46dB(A)/1m by utilizing advanced small engine technology and inverter generator technology from Honda's power equipment business. These units are the smallest commercialized cogeneration units.
