The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers, OGP, has the most comprehensive database in the upstream oil & gas industry, and uses this data to prepare an annual report, in which the current year’s performance for both companies and contractors is analysed in the context of global industry trends. An important element of any systematic approach to safety is a process for review and feedback. Individual companies measure their progress in improving safety performance by collecting and analysing accident and incident data; however, this only gives an internal performance perspective. The OGP global safety performance report can be used by companies to compare their own performance with those companies who have achieved the very best safety performance worldwide, at regional or country level, and by activity function.
