Projects covered by the EBRD ("the Bank") in the Natural Resources sector can be divided into three sub-sectors: oil, natural gas, and metal and mineral mining. Natural resource endowments can contribute in important ways to economic development. Natural resources are part of a country's stock of wealth. Their exploitation generates a revenue stream and offers great economic potential for the region. The Bank can make an important contribution to ensuring that these are indeed realised. Its impact will be measured not only in the additional production of oil, gas, and minerals which it helped finance, but more importantly in the organisational, institutional, and regional adjustments which its projects entail. | ||
