During the invasion of Kuwait, operating databases of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) were damaged and data was scattered in different locations. In addition, the Exploration & Development (E&D) Group of KOC was given the task of achieving a substantial increase in production in the following years. Several studies were required to generate the production development plans for each reservoir. In order to carry out the required studies, engineers and geoscientists needed vast amounts of reliable quality data. It was realized that what was absolutely vital for the company was a comprehensive integrated data management system, which could provide reliable data, and that the same version of data was available to all throughout the company. The data management system would have state of the art features and would satisfy the demand of quality data throughout the company. The various databases existing within the company would be migrated to the new system. In order to accomplish these objectives, a joint alliance was made with Schlumberger-GeoQuest to provide KOC with a state-of-art Integrated Data Management System. | ||
