It has been demonstrated by several investigations that ethylene is formed via secondary reactions, which may be oxidative or nonoxidative. Research has been aimed to achieve the oxidative dehydrogenation (OXD) of ethylene conccurrentJy with the OCM reaction so that ethylene would be the principal product. In the present study, work was conducted out for ethane oxidative dehydrogenation reaction in corona discharge reactor. The atomic oxygen radical anion is created by application of corona discharge operated by high voltage DC generator. The study suggests that the corona discharge process is an efficient and selective for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane. A basic reaction mechanism is proposed to explain the observed reaction phenomena.
