The Gulf of Mexico has been a focal point of world-wide deepwater exploration and development activity and learnings since the early 1980’s and continues to be an arena of technology development and strong reserve and production growth. What has the industry learned over that period of time that has led to the high activity levels we are experiencing in the Gulf of Mexico? This presentation will review the history of the industry activities in the deepwater GoM, provide an overview of the current status of ongoing and planned developments, and look forward at industry trends in selection of future development systems. The presentation will also review the new technologies required in the next 5-10 years if we are to be successful in drilling and producing in water depths up to 3,000 meters. | ||
