At that moment, fuel oil had a very low price, so there was no incentive to increase the feed to the Topping units once the capacity of the vacuum and coker units was surpassed. After a strategic analysis an opportunity was founded in the operations of the two cat crackers. The idea of feeding these units with atmospheric bottoms and converting them into valuable products, showed a very good economic return. This was based in the fact that both crackers were operating in a low utilization mode. | ||
