520 _aDue to the worldwide depletion of conventional hydrocarbon reservoirs, for some time now, more attention has been given to rocks that were previously called "mother" and which, at present and with new needs, are considered "unconventional reservoirs". Hand in hand with this, the application of special extraction techniques for these hydrocarbons has been boosted. These techniques require a hydraulic stimulation, which generates micro cracks through which hydrocarbons can flow and thus the production of the deposit is achieved. The stimulation is done by injecting compound fluids in approximately 98% water. This opens a debate in an uninformed society, about the validity of the method and its associated risks. With the analysis of the presented information, it is concluded that it is a method that presents high levels of security and reliability.
