520 _aFluid properties and AVO anomalies as a methodology for the hydrocarbons direct detectionRecent advancements in seismic exploration allow detailed investigation of the effect of fluid and rock properties on seismic attributes. These advancements provide improved GCOS (Geological Chance of Success) calculation for exploration prospects using the rock physical evaluation techniques that are examined here in more detail. To study the fluid properties in a reservoir and determine their seismic significance, a number of published predictors are available. The models chosen in the current study include: a) the Batzle and Wang (1992) model in order to predict fluid properties at different reservoir conditions, b) the Gassmann (1951) model to predict rock velocities and densities as a function of the saturating fluids, and c) the Amplitude Variation with Offset (AVO) model based on the Hilterman (1989) approximation of the Zoeppritz equations Zoeppritz (1919) to predict seismic response from the layered media rock properties. The results for the Batzle and Wang (1992) model are compared with laboratory measurements in order to evaluate its usefulness as a prediction tool for fluid properties. Although Batzle and Wang equations are empirical and calibration is always needed, the general agreement is that they must be taken into consideration, Chopra et al. (2014). Subsequently, this reservoir model is used to simulate the effect on specific reservoir cases. The Batzle and Wang, Gassmann and Zoeppritz models are applied to different scenarios. The behavior of the acoustic impedance and Poisson’s ratio attributes are examined. It is shown that AVO responses are also the result of changes in modeled fluid and rock properties. Taking the results into consideration it is a consequence that the use of Batzle and Wang model it’s an efficient predictor of the rock parameters AVO behavior in presence of light oil as it is were gas.
