Oil is produced from basement rocks in a number of countries including China, Vietnam, former USSR (West Siberia), Ukraine, Indonesia, Libya, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, USA, Brazil and Venezuela. Oil fields producing from basement in Indonesia, United States, and Venezuela are described herein and serve as models for basement oil fields exploration and production.
