The contract areas are located south of the Middle Magdalena basin and north of the Upper Magdalena Giradot subbasin. This region is bounded on the west by the Central Cordillera and the east by the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia. The Guaduas Field was discovered by the GHK Company, Colombia El Segundo 1E well completed in July 1996. The well was drilled on the west dipping forelimb of the Emerald Mountain structure.
