Documents and files stored in ENAP’s Exploration and Reservoir Department archive system was characterized by a great dispersion of supports, formats and physical locations, linked to a large volume of well information and technical reports belonging to various fields, blocks and areas. Documents from the same well file, for example, could be stored in different places under diverse physical formats, disconnected from each other or repeated several times, which hindered their accessibility, reliability and traceability. In view of that situation, ENAP defined a project to set in place a Document Management System (DMS) to organize the company’s files and archives. This was achieved through implementing a process to sort, systematize, consolidate and make accessible files and the information under a structure of Well Files and Technical Reports, stored in a DMS called DocuWare. The project began with an assessment of all available file and data volumes, followed by the definition of standard processes that involve flow of information pertaining to geosciences and reservoirs. The scope of this project was initially extended to cover all areas operated by ENAP Argentina in the Austral Basin, and will then be extended to the remaining areas of priority.All phases of the project were supported by consultant company Docs, which provided assistance in the process of data identification, inventorying, cataloguing and uploading. A bulk uploading tool was specifically designed to optimize the data loading process.At the same time, the project included a phase of data integration within a GIS Portal, where well files and georeferenced reports are easily linked within reference maps and satellite imagery in real time.
