Main reservoirs are lower U and T sandstones, and secondary reservoirs are upper U and T sandstones. The latter currently underdeveloped due to low reservoir properties estimated from conventional electrical logs. The petrophysical model was initially calibrated with core data from the main reservoirs, assuming the same calibration for the secondary reservoirs despite having a different mineralogical composition. Shushufindi’s development plan is designed to increase oil production and recovery factor while managing water encroachment in the depleted areas. The secondary reservoirs are increasingly more important to achieve production goals hence a fit-for-purpose assessment is required to identify the real potential and suitable development strategy. A robust petrophysical model has been built using all technical data collected for all reservoirs; however, the petrophysical evaluation in the secondary reservoirs was not capturing the sandstones presence due to the response of the conventional logs affected by the glauconite content and vertical resolution. For this reason, an analytical approach was performed to identify bypassed reservoir intervals considering drilling cuttings, SP and Caliper response, mud cake formation, CMR interpretation and mineralogical logs. Complementary, sequence stratigraphy concepts guided a detailed subunit definition to correlate and apply calibrated response to wells without special logs. This assessment allowed us to recategorize a secondary target to a primary objective, to increase reserves in a mature oil field and allocate resources to improve the reservoir characterization with new data acquisition. The integration of multiple data sources led to unlocking new prospective intervals and increasing the potential to be considered in the Field Development UR - https://biblioteca.iapg.org.ar/ArchivosAdjuntos/Conexplor2022/EvaluacionFormaciones/forma09.pdf ER -
