N2  - With the objective of managing efficiently and effectively the social aspects linked to the operations of TOTAL AUSTRAL, a group of specific layers was developed in order to allow visualize efficiently and interrelate the social demographics aspects (land use, economic productive dynamic, scattered rural population, settlements, natural resources). For that reason, we selected the SIG technology to be in place (Geographical Information Systems) because it stores a huge quantity of geo-referenced information and also allows to share information transversely with all the Departments.In this way, the SIG is a strategic tool for making decisions as it eases the access to necessary information for potential risks and impacts effective management
