<subfield code="a">The aim of this study is to identify the exploration potential in shelf edge deltas and deep marine facies where truncation and lateral variations may create significant stratigraphic traps. A regional interpretation of a wide subsurface database allowed the definition of ten prograding seismic sequences with unique characteristics of progradation direction, supply areas and accomodation rates. A single cycle comprises the stacking of clinoforms each one exhibiting three enviromental segments: shelf, slope and basin floor. Coeval outcrops studies show that this geometrical division is coincident with a tripartite lithology partitioning with sandy basin floor, muddy slope and sandy shoreline-shelf-alluvial deposits. This facies division represents a powerful tool to populate the geometries identified at seismic scale. 3D Seismic interpretation allowed the recognition of the three enviromental compartments and mapping of the different shelf edge positions through time. The stratigraphic framework coupled with seismic geomorphology led to the identification and mapping of canyons systems in the shelf margin that evolved downslope into basin floor fans.Paleoenviromental interpretation and facies population was built with support of outcrop analogs located in the western margin of Neuquén Basin. In the Jardinera area there is time and dimension equivalent clinoformal geometries that allow facies model extrapolation. The combination of new seismic and outcrop data now allows the first high-resolution reconstruction of individual shelf- slope- fan system clinothems of the Cuyo Group, over an along-shelf (strike) distance of some 150km.Clinothems from outcrops exhibit the following facies associations: deltaic and fluvial facies in the Shelf, Shelf edge Deltas and Channel Belt Systems at Shelf Margin positions, muddy sediments punctuated by coarse grained channel deposits in the Deepwater Slope and thick fans in the Basin Floor environment. This information was used in combination with analogous well data. Deltas reaching the shelf edge and turbiditic fans with encouraging petrophysical properties were identified and correlated with seismic interpretation. Three stratigraphic plays were identified for the first time in the Cuyo Gr with encouraging lithologies and thickness according to the analogous data: Delta Front Sands at the shelf edge, Incised Channels Fill at the shelf edge and upper slope, Fan Complexes at the basin floor.</subfield>
