<subfield code="a">The Oriental and Escorial productive blocks are located in the south of Cerro Dragón field, on the north flank of the Golfo San Jorge Basin. On the south of the field, the stratigraphic intervals increase in thickness towards the basin center, with average sedimentary accumulations of 3600 m corresponding to the Chubut Group and Tertiary formations. In these blocks, there is a coexistence of different structures resulting from the different stresses which the area was subjected to over time. The opening of the basin generated extensional structures which, as they evolved, controlled the setting of the basin filling. In some cases, these features were used by the Andean compression generating a positive partial tectonic inversion. The area can be divided into two sectors with distinctive structural features. This division is determined by a NW-SE structural trend which separates the Oriental productive block, located on the footwall to the north, and Escorial block on the hangingwall to the south. This trend is key to the structural evolution of the area, and it presents extensional, strike-slip faulting, and transpression evidence and it formed the easternmost contractional structure of the basin. These structures have significant economic value since the history of sedimentation and deformation resulted in mixed style traps, some of which are under development and exploration and others currently are assessed for future development.</subfield>
