Argentina U1 - 068.82 553.28 C62 2018 0015655 PY - 2018/// CY - PB - KW - Vaca Muerta KW - Simulación N2 - The exploration execution plan of Vaca Muerta Fm. in El Trapial block presents, in addition to the usual challenges in an unconventional play, a complexity given by the volcanic environment of this area. The exploration plan includes the drilling of horizontal wells that will define productivity and the best landing zones within the 350 m of Vaca Muerta thickness with Total Organic Carbon (TOC) >2%. The stratigraphy and the reservoir quality in this area has been studied based on a robust data acquisition plan executed during the first exploration campaign (2011 - 2014).The thermal maturity in El Trapial has been delineated all over the area from the volatile oil to gas-condensate windows, where the latter covers most of the area. A detailed structural analysis based on seismic, outcrops and wells, was carried out in this zone, where features, faults and igneous bodies were identified at different levels of Vaca Muerta Fm. Seismic amplitude and acoustic impedance surveys analyzed with the geobody methodology allowed identification and delineation of volcanic sills, even those below seismic resolution or concordant to the stratigraphy. Thicknesses of the bodies range from less than 7 m (detection limit) to 30 m thick and show a planar to saucer shape and lobate geometry. In addition, curvature, chaos and varianza attributes led to the identification of volcanic dykes. These dykes are distributed with a radial pattern across Cerro Bayo de Huantraico Sur laccolith in the south western portion of the area. The study of this igneous bodies was complemented with petrophysical and geomechanical analysis that demonstrates that these andesites rocks have elastic moduli higher than Vaca Muerta host rocks and are therefore they are expected to work as barrier to hydraulic fractures. Surface studies were incorporated to the characterization of igneous bodies, since these volcanic bodies outcrop in the area. In order to compare them in terms of composition and geomechanical properties with subsurface dykes samples from outcropping dykes were taken. Finally, numerical simulations were carried out to understand the interaction between hydraulic fractures and igneous bodies indicate that Sh difference of over 8% would make these bodies act as barriers to frac propagation. The resulting will be used to optimize the selection of landing point and frac-stage design of horizontal wells to be drilled and predict its behavior in subsurface to optimize the landing point of each horizontal well to be drilled. This paper summarizes the comprehensive studies that allowed to define the location of future wells, the landing points, the real-time monitoring requirements and the data acquisition plan for the next exploration campaign UR - https://biblioteca.iapg.org.ar/ArchivosAdjuntos/Conexplor2018/SRNC/1381.pdf ER -
