Those include the research of the depositional environment and geological properties, and the analysis of concepts such as organic matter content, reservoir pore pressure, rock brittleness, etc. In both cases, fault and fracture interpretation and characterization have an important role depending on the purpose and kind of the investigated reservoir. For Conventional cases, their identification is useful for delineating areas of interest. On the other hand, for Unconventional ones these processes optimize the well location and completion. Seismic discontinuities, represented as vertical and horizontal displacements, flexure deformations and/or seismic reflector variations, are closely related to geological faults, fractures, or stratigraphic features of a given geologic environment. The present paper focuses on the estimation of 3D geometric attributes for characterizing discontinuities of seismic and subseismic scale fractures associated to geological fractures and faults. Calculated attributes were: curvature, coherency, Volume Amplitude Technique (TecVA) and TecVA variations. An analysis of its effects and contributions to the seismic interpretation is presentedt UR - https://biblioteca.iapg.org.ar/ArchivosAdjuntos/CONEXPLOR2014/Simposiodegeofisica/123-Caracterizacion-de-discontinuidades.pdf ER -
