Permian of Claromec&#xF3; Basin, Sierras Australes fold and thrust belt, Buenos Aires province, Argentina The Tunas Formation (Permian, Harrington 1947) outcrops in Sierras Australes of Buenos Aires Province and continues to the east in Claromec&#xF3; Basin as subsurface record. In order to know about diagenesis level, structural evolution and tectonic context, petrographic analysis on well PANG0001 coal samples and magnetic suceptibility anisotropy (MSA) studies of outcropping samples were made. Coals are formed by collovitrinite and gelovitrinite (Vitrinite Group) belts, alternate with fusinite (Inertinite Group) belts. The values of vitrinite reflectance are between 1,3 and 2,38% R0, wich allow us to classify the coals as semianthracitic to low volatile bituminous. According to this, the Tunas Formation reaches the methane gas to wet to condensate gases window generation. The Kmax axes of AMS ellipsoids show a NW-SE direction showing a maximum stress direction from SW-NE. The Kmin axes, with a SW-NE strike, are in horizontal positions at west progressively changing to vertical positions at east, while the anisotropy magnitude decreases toward the East. All these aspects indicate a progression of the magnetic fabric, from a tectonic imprint to a sedimentary fabric, evidencing a decreasing of the deformation to the East while principal compressive stress comes from SW. This research takes into account different methods and allows a good knowledge about diagenesis degree and deformation features recording. Results inform that the Tunas Formation have reached the catagenesis-metagenesis zone and that can be characterized as a potential component of an oil/gas/coal system.</subfield>
