One of the first responses to concerns about climate change involved the search to sequester carbon, a component of the major greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide (CO2). Increasingly, efforts are focusing on how to deal with another greenhouse gas-methane. Although not as prevalent as CO2, methane is at least 21 times more potent as a greenhouse gas. As a result, a sizable industry is developing around methane recovery. The main areas of focus are the tree major sources of methane emissions- livestock, mines and landfills. Mark Rowe reports ER -
