    <subfield code="a">The objective is to integrate Distributed Energy Resources (DER&amp;#x92;s) such as PV and micro-CHP (Combined Heat and Power) systems even an Energy Storage system constituting an electrical microgrid. The DER&amp;#x92;s will be connected to the grid or isolated. The microgrid is designed for operating in optimal conditions from an economical and environmental point of view, needless to say, generating a power quality according to the standards. With this project we want to answer the questions, concerns, and problems created by a high increase of energy consumption, optimising operation, generating power quality in accordance with the sustainable development. In the test plant, installed in the Alava Technology Park (near Bilbao), a 3-kWe PV system, a 30- kWe natural gas microturbine and a 9.5-kWe natural gas Stirling engine are running, together in conjunction with the Management System for the microgrid. Also, we are going to fit out a electrical storage system. The project result is an intelligent microgrid combining efficiently different energy sources including PV systems. The microgrid acts as a test site for future research and validation of new technological approaches and solutions.</subfield>
