This gas cooking hob has a heat durable glass-ceramic top plate over surface combustion burners which consist of silicon carbide fibers. Generally, this type of gas hob is considered to be insufficiently efficient because the burners heat pots and pans indirectly through the glass-ceramic top. For instance, the efficiency of some kinds of cooking hobs with glass-ceramic tops over ceramic radiant burners is only about 30% under cold start conditions. Since the efficiency of electric hobs with induction heaters or radiant heaters is approximately 80%, and their primary-energy-base efficiency consequently about 30%, gas hobs with only 30% efficiency are not competent enough. The efficiency of the glass-ceramic top gas hob now being developed could exceed 45%, 1.5 times higher than the conventional type described above. Full-flat top plate gas cooking hobs with practical efficiency would be produced ER -
