Working at the request of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), the Japan Gas Association is working together with four absorption chiller manufacturers on the development of commercially viable triple-effect absorption chiller-heaters. During the first year of the development project, a 527kW prototype system was created which reached a cooling COP of 1.49, a level that cannot be reached using double-effect systems. The results of durability tests extending over a period of 2,000 hours of operation were also favorable ER -
