But in the last years other innovative complete piping systems have been introduced in some countries for gas indoor installation. 20 years ago Japan introduced the CSST technique (Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing) which was used then in USA. More recently systems made with polymeric materials have also been used for gas inside buildings : these are the PEX (crosslinked polyethylene) and the multilayer pipes with pressfittings or equivalent jointing methods. Gaz de France leads an European project entitled "Digbuild project" with 8 partners. This project demonstrates the feasibility of gas indoor installation with the three hereabove mentioned techniques, their high level of quality and safety and their attractive global cost. The project notably includes the determination of the performances by a complete set of tests, a pressure loss study for sizing optimisation, an economical study, a safety study and the organisation of pilot installations ER -
