This paper presents the potential of Algeria export infrastructure capacity and new gas projects. The communication network by fiber optics installed in Algeria represents an opportunity of INTRANET / INTERNET technologies integration. This paper details the realization of a Wide Area Network (WAN) via the fiber optics and the possibility to develop a new SCADA system based on Ethernet cards integrated in the Open Transport Network system ( OTN) with client/server architecture ( TCP/IP, COM/DCOM and OPC). The measurement of gas flow is provided by flow computers. This paper describes the new concepts that have been developed in flow measurements ( telemetering and remote configuration). The international gas market is strongly competitive. Consequently, the reliability appears to be an essential criterion for the conservation of market parts and the acquisition of new clients. This paper develops a pipeline optimization model according to the minimum of energy consumption criterion and presents results of application of this methodology to the Algerian gas pipeline network ER -
