The focus of this paper consists of gas hydrates not as a nuisance, as we often encounter them in gas and oil pipelines, but as an attractive means for storage and transportation of natural gas. Gas hydrate occupies 150-170 times less volume than the corresponding gas at standard conditions. Therefore, it can be transported and stored at much lower pressures. Gas hydrates are stable at temperatures less than -20&#xB0;C and pressures commonly found in pipelines. Alternatively, for storage and transportation in atmospheric vessels, temperatures of approximately -30&#xB0;C need to be utilised. The following paper will provide a comprehensive account of the latest developments in the use of gas hydrates for storage and transportation purposes. This approach seems to be a much more feasible way to store and transport natural gas when compared with LNG and synthetic gas (GTL, gas to liquid). The preceding will be given and relevant issues will be discussed.</subfield>
