Exploited a new catalytic fractionation technique (CATAFRACT), whose characteristics are directly piling up catalyst on some superposed catalyst beds, setting up fractionating trays between adjacent beds and having vapor bypass in each bed. This technique can be applied to the etherizing reaction of tert-olefins in the fractions of C4's, C5's, C6's, and so on. When producing MTBE from C4's, conversion of i-butylene exceeds 99.5%. For TAME from C5's, conversion of t-amylene exceeds 94%. For MTBE and TAME from C4's and C5's simultaneously, conversion of i-butylene and t-amylene reach 98% and 94% respectively. With light gasoline as the feed, the conversions of t-amylene and t-hexene reach 91% and 41% respectively. The catalyst loading structure is simple and the operation cost is low in this technique, which both do well to the reaction ER -
