The model accounts for different distribution of oil over the carrier bed cross section during the primary drainage, when oil invades the water filled formation (during oil generation by the mother rock), and during primary imbibition, when the water moving down displaces oil ‘bottom-up’. It results in a hyperbolic first order partial differential equation with hysteresis. It is shown that the hysteresis phenomenon affects highly the amount and distribution of residual oil in the carrier bed after reservoir formation. The model was validated by prediction of hydrocarbon reservoirs in Basin P (Brazil) UR - https://biblioteca.iapg.org.ar/ArchivosAdjuntos/LACPEC2001/Spe69411.pdf ER -
