The objective of this work is to share an update of some of the still non- productive sedimentary basins, located in the center and south of Argentina. This investigation was done by a YPF Exploration multidisciplinary team as part of the Argentine Exploratory Plan (PEA). It was carried out between 2010 and 2018 including the collaboration of several National Universities and laboratories. All the basins involved in this analysis are located onshore and they are the following ones: Los Tordillos, General Levalle, Claromecó, Salado, Colorado, Ñirihuau, Cañadón Asfalto and El Tranquilo. From the beginning both geological and geophysical existing data from each basin was checked and reprocessed. This allowed to run a first evaluation and decide where new information was necessary to be acquired. In most cases, new geological surveys and mapping were carried out; geophysical data such as: potential methods, 2D or 3D seismic, were acquired. Finally, in some basins, study or exploratory wells were drilled. Using all of these information, Petroleum Systems (SP) were defined by a thoroughly analysis of the geological elements and processes. Using the methodology explained above, a list of opportunities were defined based on the chances of finding or not hydrocarbon accumulations. Due to the absence of some geological elements and/ or processes, the chances to find a hydrocarbons accumulation could be very low or null at: General Levalle, El Tranquilo and Colorado Basins. Mainly due to the lack of information, the chances could be low to medium in: Claromeco and Salado Basins. On the other hand, the chances could be medium to high in: Cañadón Asfalto, Ñirihuau and Los Tordillos Basins associated to a proven Petroleum System.
