Online resources: Summary: On top of the five productive basins recognized in Argentina, there are sixteen basins and four subbasins not yet productive that have a different degree of geological knowledge. In this paper, we propose an update of the knowledge of these basins, with an analysis of the exploratory potential, based on the currently available data. For a better organization, it was decided to present them in two groups: North and Central South of Argentina, in this particular paper the northern basins will be presented. Much of that knowledge of these basins was reviewed and updated during the campaign that YPF called "Plan Exploratorio Argentina" (PEA from now on) that lasted 8 years (between 2010 and 2018). To carry out this plan, in addition to the professionals that YPF involved, agreements were signed with different universities and laboratories, which allowed to deepen the geological knowledge of each basin, aiming, if possible, to define the chances of existence of a petroleum system (SP from now on). The basins and sub-basins analyzed and grouped as from the north of the country were the following: Tres Cruces, Tucuman, Santa Maria, Chacoparana, Precordillera, Bolson de Pagancillo, Bolson de Tamberias. As some provinces did not subscribe to the PEA, basins not analyzed within the framework of the same are also included, so that the update panorama is as complete as possible.
