Online resources: In: Summary: The study area is located in the northern part of the Neuquén province, within the platform area of the Neuquén Basin. The western part of this sector remains unexplored due to its complex topography, lack of seismic information and presence of sills along the entire stratigraphic column. The main objective of this work is to identify and delimit an area with potential for unconventional development, outside the area of influence of the igneous bodies recognized through the seismic interpretation of the Vaca Muerta Formation In this sector of the basin the Vaca Muerta Formation is in the oil generation window, it presents an average thickness of 350 m, Total Organic Carbon (TOC) > 2%, total porosity > 8%, water saturation < 50% and moderate vertical heterogeneity, and presents several stratigraphic intervals with potential to be evaluated with horizontal wells. At the end of 2016, a 3D seismic was recorded in this topographically complex area, this required a specific strategy in the selection of seismic sources where a combination of vibroseis and explosives operations was necessary to acquire subsurface information. On this new cube, emphasis was placed on the identification and characterization of seismic amplitude anomalies associated with the presence of sills. Detailed mapping of the sills using different seismic attributes and the addition of data from wells drilled in the area, made possible to delimit an area with lower risk of igneous activity and adequate geological, geochemical and geomechanical properties to evaluate the Vaca Muerta Formation in this underexplored area of the Neuquén Basin
