Vaca Muerta Fm. has been widely studied as an unconventional reservoir in the center of the Neuquén basin where itś in development stage. However, there are still underexplored areas, due to their higher geological risk, mainly thermal maturity, overpressure, presence of igneous rocks and high structural complexity. The study area of this work corresponds to the southern Mendoza sector of the basin. From the available seismic information, both 3D and 2D, structural maps, isopach maps, and seismic attributes were constructed, which allowed identifying areas with greater structural complexity and potential levels of high organic content. In addition, through the well logs information, petrophysical evaluation was performed, identifying potential intervals of interest. Due to the low availability of data to evaluate the potential of the source rock, an important data collection campaign was carried out, which allowed to update and generate new maps, and toevaluate the different properties of the source rock as a shale reservoir. The result of the new data has been very encouraging, showing that Vaca Muerta Fm. in the area of interest, like other sectors of the basin, is very rich, by far exceeding 2% of TOC, with more than 150m of organic thickness, and much of the studied region is in the black oil generation window, with vitrinite reflectance values measured in cutting between 0.8 and 1% Ro. As for the mineralogy, it presents suitable values for an unconventional fracking stimulation. A geomechanical model was calibrated with a DFIT performed in a well already drilled, whose analysis shows pore pressure gradient values above 0.7 psi/ft. From the integration of all the data obtained from this work, this sector of the basin has been revalued and exploratory wells have been defined to delineate the area and evaluate the potential of Vaca Muerta Fm.
