training workover crews in well control
Description: 14 pOnline resources: In: Summary: The most instrumental factor for the success of any well control operation is the competence of the crew implementing it, in which crew training plays a critical role. The IADC WellCAP® program is one of the largest well control accreditation programs in the world. Each year, thousands of students undergo training in the drilling and workover accreditation programs. This paper analyzes the differences between drilling and workover operations from a well control perspective and how these typical differences affect students who have only field exposure to either class of operations. Important training subjects are addressed within the WellCAP framework where the differences are most noticeable. Suggestions for developing an enhanced training baseline for workover crews are included. Provided that an improved and tailored training would indeed benefit workover crews, the ultimate goal will result in improving the primary well control of cased wells.| Current library | Status | Barcode | |
